Most people may not be aware that they have spyware on the computers and laptops. The spyware lurks in the background doing it deeds within the shadows of their computer’s hard drives. The majority of people are unaware of the potential damage and measures you can take to protect yourself from spyware.

The purpose of this article is to tell you what spyware is, and how to protect yourself from it.

Computer programs that exist on your computer’s hard drive are cald Spyware. They come in a variety of types and flavors. There are some spyware programs that will secretly stay in your hard drive, keeping track of every website that you visit, and taking notes.

Some spyware watch and take note of your keystrokes whenever you visit a financial services website. Knowing as “keyloggers,” this type of spyware then sends your sensitive financial information, including your username and passwords, to other parties across the internet.

Most often, spyware is downloaded through the internet. The download can occur if a user click to some other software where spyware is attached and it will download to your hard drive. Other times, spyware can be downloaded by visiting websites. “Drive By’s” are downloads that happen when a user simply visits a particular websites, without the permission of the user.

Not all spyware is always dangerous, it just all has a potential of doing a lot of damage. You and your financial livelihood are at risk with the spyware that watches your keystroke when you visit financial websites. Other parties that have become privy to your private information, can secretly access your bank accounts, investments and loan accounts via the internet, creating all kinds of problems.

There are additional kinds of spyware that can take control of your computer and give that access to other parties. Consequently, anonymous individuals could possibly get ahold of all the sensitive information contained on your hard drive.

Computers need protection from spyware. The most effective way to protect you and your computer is to research and use a program that is designated specifically to identity and get rid of such bus and viruses. Such programs include Search and Destroy software. Spyware creators are always becomming more savvy, so these kind of programs are helpful.

Some spyware attempts to look like anti-spyware on your PC in order to trick you. This can cause them to become harder to find and remove from your computer. The good news is that specialized programs such a Spybot are continually updated with the newest versions of spyware that circulate around the internet. This lets it stay ahead of new spyware, enabling it to identify them effortlessly and get rid of them with ease.

There is a good chance that you have a spyware program lurking on your hard drive if you have never scanned your system. Although it could be relatively benign and content to simply exist, it could also be maliciously communicating your sensitive data to outside parties. You need to eliminate this spyware with a program specifically designed to do so, before permanent harm is done.

Almost everyone that has a computer that is connected to the internet has heard the term “spyware” before. However not everyone knows what it means and it is a fairly broad term that can get confusing at times. With that in mind, we are going to cover what exactly spyware is.

Put simply, spyware refers to various programs and software that gets installed on your computer without you knowing. These programs then go on to cause “malicious” activity - some examples of this are:

1) Steal your personal information. Spyware can “spy” on what files are on your computer and capture the passwords and other personal information you enter while you are online.

2) Add all sorts of extra programs and add-ons to your computer which you haven’t authorized. This is usually used to monitor your online activity and will cause your computer to run a lot slower than usual.

3) Automatically make your web browser take you to websites that have other harmful files such as viruses or other forms of spyware.

4) Without you being aware, spyware can change the security settings you have on your computer so that your computer is at an increased risk of getting viruses or having personal information stolen.

In short, Spyware is nothing but ‘nuisanceware’!

One of the biggest complaints about spyware is how drastically it slows down your computer. You entire systems performance is affected by it.

How does Spyware get into a computer?

Spyware is always introduced into a computer through deceptive means, and the user will have no clue when this infiltration happens. Here are some instances of how Spyware can enter your system:

1) Download programs that offer movie or music downloads. These are often offer for free and will automatically install spyware on your system.

2) Some software makers bundle Spyware with a program that they claim is a utility. For example, if you download a program (from some obscure website) that promises to accelerate your Internet speeds, then you can safely assume that such “utility” programs are loaded with Spyware.

3) Another method used by Spyware developers is to mimic the operating system’s messages so that you click on them. When you click on them the Spyware gets installed.

If you are using MS windows, you might get a popup with a message that looks like it’s from your operating system, however when you click on it you end up installing some form of spyware.

How can you tell if there’s Spyware on your computer?

Most people will start to notice their computer starts to slow down and they may also get more advertisements popup when they are browsing. Spyware is famous for making computers run a little “sluggish” - this is one of the first signs that your computer is infected.

Apart from the slowing down factor, you cannot really tell if there’s Spyware installed on your system. Many people will just assume something is wrong with the computer hardware when their system slows down, however spyware is often the cause.

It’s important that you protect your computer and make sure you destroy any spyware on your system starting today!

If you suspect computer is infected by Spyware, you have to move immediately and get it removed before it causes any more damage. There is Spyware in every nook and corner of the Internet, and chances are your computer is already host to several Spyware programs unless a quality anti-Spyware program is protecting your system.

You need a solid and reliable anti-Spyware program developed by a trusted manufacturer, and you need it as soon as yesterday! Remember, only top-ranked anti-Spyware programs can effectively remove the malicious Spyware from your computer and protect it from future Spyware attacks, so don’t let yourself put it off. A quality anti-spyware program will scan your computer for any existing infections, kill them off, and then protects your system from any future infections.

Although you see many banners and ads for “free adware programs,” many of these products are not truthfully free. Some may offer a free trial of their product so you can test it out for a few days before purchasing it. The problem with this is you do not get to use it long enough to really decide if it will work for you in the long term. Other companies allow you to download a limited demo version of their product so you can see how it works. Here again, you really don’t have the freedom to try it out as much as you need to to make an informed decision.

This is not to say that this is case with all free adware companies. There are some that are completely free. So, what’s the score, right? Many of the totally free adware removal programs are very basic and somewhat limited in their performance. Yes, they may get the job done, but there’s no guarantee that they will be able to remove every single bit of adware from your computer. If you are choosing to go with a free adware cleaning software, you should really do you research before downloading anything. Sometimes, these “free” products themselves carry spyware, which totally defeats the purpose of using it to clean your computer.

The biggest reason you should take the time to research any free spyware cleaning software before you try it is because some of them are just downright fake. Some companies thrive off the annoying pop-ups that adware presents to the PC’s users, so they market free adware removing software, pretending to be the good guys. This is unethical because, in reality, they aren’t really removing the adware…if anything, they are adding more!

There are some good, reliable adware programs available for free online. Websites such as Adwareking.com offer reviews and information on a few of the products that will actually get the job done. As with anything you try, you just need to be very careful. If something looks shady or “too good to be true,” it probably is!

If you are still unsure about trying any free adware programs, there is another way to getting the harmful data off your PC. You can manually delete the adware if you choose. Most of the adware can be uninstalled from the “Add/Remove Programs” section in the Control Panel. You can also get an antivirus program (if you don’t already have one, it is highly recommended that you get one as soon as possible to protect your computer) that scans your entire computer for any evidence of potentially damaging files and folders. This may be the safest route if you do not wish to take the time to investigate the free spyware removal programs available.

It is essential that you clear your PC of spyware regularly, before something irreversible happens. Spyware can cause system freezing, crashing, and automatic shut downs, all of what could cause data loss and damage to your PC. While it is important to get rid of the unwanted spyware before it causes a catastrophe, you should be careful with how you go about deleting it. Play it safe, do your research, and you should be able to keep a clean, optimal performing PC!

It’s no mystery that these days you need to protect your computer from viruses and spyware if you are connected to the internet. There are a lot of different options out there - let’s take a look at what you need to look for the make sure you are using the best anti-spyware program for your computer.

It’s essential that you protect you computer from spyware and adware if you are connected to the internet. Without a proper anti-spyware program, you put your personal information and computer’s performance speed at risk.

Here are some features that we recommend looking for in a spyware remover:

1) The capability to discover and destroy all types of spyware and adware

There’s a lot of different infections that fall under the category of “spyware” - dialers, browser hijackers, flooder, keyloggers, adware - it’s a long list!

You don’t need to know what all of these are, but you have to make sure your spyware remover does!

Make sure to look for a program that is comprehensive and powerful enough to detect all of these malicious programs and wipe them off your computer.

2) Automatic Updates

New spyware hits the internet every day. If you spyware remover doesn’t know how to look for these new infections, your computer will never be fully protected.

You need to find a program that features “automatic updates” - this means that it always keeps up with the latest spyware definitions and knows exactly which infections it needs to protect your computer from.

3) Automatic system scans

I have something to admit - I forget a lot of things! And sometimes I’m just plain lazy.

You want an anti-spyware program that automatically scans your computer for infections on a pre-determined schedule (I have it scan my system once a week). This let’s you have the piece of mind that your computer is safe even if you forget to hit that “scan now” button.

4) Exceptional Customer Support

Although it’s extremely rare that you would ever need technical support for a spyware remover (they really just run themselves once installed), I want to know that there is support available just in case it’s ever needed.

To me, a company that offers quick support is dedicated to keeping their customers happy. It’s a sign of a company that is putting in the effort to produce quality products.

I like to know I have email support whenever I need it, and I love to see a “live chat” feature where you can get instant support if need be.

The link at the bottom of this article is there if you want to read reviews on the best anti-spyware programs on the market. When the reviewers were putting their ratings together they looked at the support options that were available for each program. It’s something that you might not ever use, but it says a lot of the company that produces the software.

The four above features are something you should always look for in an anti-spyware program. By doing this, you make sure your computer is running at peak performance and your personal information is protected from spyware. It’s extra important that you take these steps nowadays so you have nothing to worry about while you are online. All the best!

by John Pearson

Approximately 90% of the computers connected to the Internet have had adware on them at some point. Some people are totally unaware of the little bots that are unknowingly installed on their computer when they download something, so the amount of adware on their computers increase rapidly. Adware is one of the top causes of PC, as it causes slowing down, crashing, and automatic shutdown. Fortunately for PC owners, this stuff is easy to find and remove. You just have to know how to go about doing it.

One of the most effective ways of getting rid of adware is to use antivirus and anti-adware programs at the same time. What one software lets slip by, the other will generally catch. Antivirus is a highly recommended program for every PC.

Many come with at least a trial version of the most popular programs already installed. It is up to the PC owner to maintain the coverage that the antivirus software provides. Coupling this with a reliable adware removal software will build a strong front against spy programs being added to your computer.

Another way to beat adware is to shut down your computer after each use. Many people leave their computers running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Those who do this while connected to the Internet with DSL or Cable (any form of connection that stays connect as long as the computer is running) are exposed to adware the entire time their PC is connected to the web.

To prevent this, you should either turn off your computer or disconnect the Internet each night, during the day if you work outside the home, and any long period of time that you will be away from your desk. The less time adware has to get on your computer, the less amount of it that you will have on your computer.

A third way to greatly reduce the adware on your computer is to be careful with your browsing and downloading. Most adware that makes it to your computer will come from something else you downloaded. It may be a photo, file, song, or document, and you will have no clue that the secret spy has been downloaded along with your intended item. Don’t download anything from shady looking websites, as they are known for spyware. Also, sometimes browsing such websites will install adware, especially those that have lots of pop-ups.

Finally, keeping yourself up to date on how to effectively protect your computer will help decrease the chances of spyware being installed on your PC’s. Educate yourself on how to properly scan and clean your PC, and be sure to do so regularly. Some adware removal programs come with the ability for you to schedule the date and time of each scan and removal.

These actions should be done at least weekly to ensure nothing is on your PC that shouldn’t be. You may also look into manually finding and removing adware yourself, if you feel that your adware program is not doing the job or you wish not to invest in such a program.

I previously showed you Reputation Item Farming for Scryers, so in this installment we will be discussing the Rep Farming for Aldor.

Aldor Item Locations

Like always, keep using the Auctioneer Mod so you can keep up to date with the economy on your server.

As I told you about with Scryers and Firewing Signets, it is a waste of time to put a lot of effort into farming the lowest Aldor item, which is Mark of Kil’jaeden. Around level 65, you will farm wow gold much more efficiently by going after Motes and Primals.

In order to cover your requirements of Mark of Kil’jaeden for quests and earlier Rep turn-ins, the best spot to farm is Terrokar. Head south from Shattrath City to the Bone Wastes. In the north and northwest areas of the Wastes; hunt the Cabal Abjurists, Cabal Tomb Raiders, Cabal Spell Weavers and Cabal Initiates. All of these are in the level 62-64 range. You will get tons of Marks of Kil’jaeden, but you are also going to be getting a ton of Netherweave and Runecloth. Both of these items will bring you in some sweet extra gold at the Auction House.

Onto the big bucks!

The top areas for gathering Mark of Sargeras and Fel Armaments are in Netherstorm, assuming you are level 70. You are going to begin in Stormspire and go north to Forge Base Oblivion and Forge Base Gehenna. The demons here, level 68-69, drop Marks of Armament at terrific rates. The mobs you need to be taking out are Ironspine Forgelords, Cyber-Rage Forgelords and Wrathbringers.

If you are an herbalist and/or enchanter, a better spot is Socrethar’s Seat, the island just northwest of the Forge Bases. You can only reach this with a Flying Mount though. The level 70 mobs will give the same rates on drops as the Bases, but you will also get tons of Mana Thistle and Dreaming Glory Herbs here, and the mobs drop green items that disenchant well. Watch out for Socrethar, the elite in the middle of the island; he does not move much, so it is not much too worry about.

If you can work efficiently in the Netherland spots, you can get around 3 Fel Armaments and roughly 30 Marks of Sargeras per hour. Stacked with the rest of the loot plus herbs and disenchants, you should be raking in around 100g per hour.

Another place to check out for Mark of Sargeras and Fel Armaments is the east side of Blade’s Edge Mountains. To the south, around and inside Death’s Door, you will find level 66-68 demon mobs such as Death’s Might, Deathforge Technician, and Death’s Watch. They will drop Mark of Sargeras at 25% and Fel Armament at 2%.

Towards the north of here, at Forge Camp Anger, you are going to find tons of Doomforge Attendants and Doomforge Engineers, level 67-68. These fellas have a bit higher drop rates for the Aldor Rep Items than the Deathforge Mobs, but they are a bit tougher to kill. For the engineers, this is the only place you can get the very rare Bind of Pickup Schematic for Felsteel Boomstick… which of course is very handy for leveling up your engineering skill past 360. Doomforge Engineers are the only ones that drop the Schematic.

Many things can be owned. These things may have been purchased, given as gifts or passed along from one generation of a family to another.

by Paul Wilcox

Many things can be owned. These things may have been purchased, given as gifts or passed along from one generation of a family to another.

In addition, those possessions can have monetary or sentimental value. Some of those items that have sentimental value can include photographs or heirlooms that have been passed down within the family.

Of course, the problem with owning something is that it could be stolen. Or it could even be lost due to something like fire, flood, or some other natural cause. And naturally, there are plenty of thieves out there who would steal your possessions if given the chance.

One of the most personal things that can be stolen from you is your identity. Identity theft is becoming more and more of a problem, and the first step in preventing it is to understand what it is.

Just What Is Identity Theft, Anyway?

Identity theft is when one person pretends to be someone else, most often for the purpose of committing some type of fraud. This could mean accessing your banks accounts or even committing crimes in your name.

One of the most common impacts of identity theft is financial loss of some sort. Identity theft can affect your finances and credit rating when the thieves are able to access your bank accounts, credit cards and other private information.

Plus, if it isn’t stopped quickly, this damage can have a serious impact on your good name. Credit reports, employment history, criminal records, etc. are all potential problems. Even though you are innocent, the problems are on your record. It can take years to clear your name.

How Identity Theft Occurs

Identity theft often occurs when critical, personal pieces of information are somehow obtained by an identity thief.

This may include things like social insurance numbers, driver’s license numbers, or bank PINs. Things that only their owner ought to know.

If these numbers are obtained by an identity thief, they can use them to pose as you to banks, credit companies or other services. This personal information should never be given out glibly.

Often a company is very clear that they will never ask for these sensitive numbers unless the customer has initiated the call. In addition, often a company will only ask for the last four numbers of a person’s 9 digit social security number.

Identify thieves can also obtain this information by going through your trash or stealing your wallet or purse. It’s important to shred all paperwork that contain important information before you throw it out.

Are you sick and tired of lugging around an appointment book, a cell phone and a laptop just to stay connected with work and friends? Are you tired of forgetting important appointments and not being able to communicate on the fly? Then perhaps there is an answer to your communication and scheduling dilemma.

by Michael Erikson

Are you sick and tired of lugging around an appointment book, a cell phone and a laptop just to stay connected with work and friends? Are you tired of forgetting important appointments and not being able to communicate on the fly? Then perhaps there is an answer to your communication and scheduling dilemma.

The pocket PC Smartphone is not a new invention. The Blackberry PalmOs and other pocket PCS have been around for quite some time and have proven to be quite useful. Cell phone companies have jumped on the bandwagon recently with a little bit of prodding from Apple. Thanks to Apple’s iPhone, which debuted in the United States on June 29th, 2007, more companies have found themselves competing against Blackberry and Palm.

So why use a Smartphone or a palm pocket pc? Well for starters, they are incredibly versatile. Most phones prior to 2008 were running on Windows Mobile 5, but with the debut of Windows Mobile 6, more applications have opened up for use and there is more processor speed behind these small cell phones. The iPAQ Pocket PC is a prime example of faster running speed, but lacks the communication power of the iPhone. The iPhone has definitely set the standard for cell phones!

What can you expect from a Smartphone? You can expect PC software such as Outlook, Word and even Excel as applications. This means that you can open and edit documents while on the go. That is a huge plus factor over earlier models of phones and PDAs. Most new Smartphones, like the iPhone, have added music players, text messaging, cameras and even voice recorders, as a way to entice new customers into making the jump from Apple to other manufacturers, such as Nokia and Motorola.

The iPhone is a great phone to own, but it does have its drawbacks, namely a hefty $399 price tag. With a new pocket PC Smartphone, you may be able to get a substantial discount by opening up a new contract with a cellular provider. The best thing you can do is to shop around to find the best deals that have the capabilities that you need and want, all wrapped up into one very useful package.

You may need to look into purchasing a pocket PC Smartphone to help you manage your busy schedule.

It does have a lot of great capabilities, but there still is the hefty price tag attached to it. How expensive? Try a whopping $399 that does not include any discounts. If you are in the market and have decided to purchase a pocket PC Smartphone or any pocket PCs for that matter, then the best thing you can do is shop around. You may be able to find a great one by signing up with a cellular provider that can offer you a discount in exchange for a new contract.

Having computers consistently crash is a definite hassle, particularly if you have taken steps to keep such an event from happening. Even if you do use the information technology department, you may still experience this kind of problem with the computer crashing repeatedly. Presumably, a password system on a previously clean computer should keep out many intruders.

Once done, these programs are then uploaded and double checked to make sure they do not have any harmful secondary programs included this is done to the business owner or I.T specialists satisfaction. The next step is to severely curb internet access with software such as a firewall, which should be limited as to ensure the prevention of harmful programs to the existing system.

The benefits are twofold of this approach: not only is the system protected through eliminating programs like messengers or online sharing programs, but by forcing workers to use only company email systems and networks, business owners are more likely to see their workers actually working instead of goofing off in chat programs, Myspace and other social networking sites.

Many employees have discovered that it is nearly impossible to have complete success in the area of stopping computer chatting and downloading on company time, however. Having said that, it is now time to turn your attention to one of the enemies of the cyber industry these days and that is spyware.

After that, the business and owner related programs are uploaded, and these programs are double checked to make sure they do not have any harmful secondary programs included. The next step is to severely curb internet access, which should be limited as to ensure the prevention of harmful programs to the existing system.

With spyware being so easily undetected by the computer owners until the otherwise functioning system stops working, there is no doubt about the brilliance of the spyware masters, just as there is no doubt about their evilness. Spyware’s entire purpose is to collect information without the users’ knowledge or consent, and there is nothing admirable about that. There is no getting around the fact that this sadly proliferating and damaging tool is a total invasion of privacy.

Along with spyware, adware is a type of nuisance where online popups trigger materials to be downloaded into your system no matter what you type or press in the popup box. Unfortunately, the best outcome you can truly hope for is that the people who have specialize in this type of harm will be tracked down and forced to quit their crimes. Many people are duped because these illegal programs came along with a legal service or program that they were purchasing.

What makes the situation worse is that some of these illegal operations are actually tied to legal companies who provide legal programs.

Any adware spyware removal program that you have your sights are should be thoroughly researched, and once a keeper is found, that adware spyware removal program should be held on to with dear life, for they are rare specimens indeed.

Many people, who use computers for work or for pleasure, may experience a computer virus at some point. They are very difficult to eliminate, especially if you have only basic knowledge of computers and computing.

Viruses that affect computers come in a variety of guises, but all are very destructive to your machine. They are capable of deleting, corrupting and modifying the files on your system. Computer viruses can also manipulate the security measures that you have on your system. The virus will taint the computer system by infiltrating items such as free downloads and applications, files, programs and e-mails. In order for the computer to be infected, the virus needs to be installed and opened on the machine.

The people that operate these viruses are constantly changing them in order to try and keep one step ahead. Even for the most professional of computer users, it can be perplexing to try and wipe the machine of the virus. Having a fail-safe security program installed on your computer can help to prevent the virus from spreading. Many security packages are able to locate the threat of a virus or prevent the virus from infecting your computer.

The market is flooded with software that is aimed at securing your computer system. The wide variety of merchandise is available either online or in stores. You may find a few that involve no cost to you. The program will be able to scan your computer on a daily basis to check and stop viruses from entering your system and programs. Thus, viruses are prevented from being installed and opened on the computer and ruining your important files and information.

If you try to get rid of viruses without a specialized software, it is very difficult indeed, if not impossible. With the right software installed on your system, cleansing your computer of viruses is much simpler. The program will find the virus and quarantine it so that it cannot do any damage to your computer; it intercepts the virus by recognizing the patterns given out by the virus itself.

Using the tools and software as advised above, will produce sufficient results; many of the products can be downloaded as a free trial for a specific period to see if it is suitable for your needs. Check your local stores or the many websites online to find these offers.

Protecting your computer system from viruses is of paramount importance to avoiding dangerous and harmful viruses from destroying your work or home computer.
